Vedic maths is a branch of mathematics that deals with fast math tricks which aid in high-speed multiplication, division, addition as well as subtraction. Filled with tricks and shortcuts to reduce the burden of calculations, Vedic maths help you overcome math phobia. You can easily solve CBSE/ICSE based questions once you get accustomed to the working of Vedic Maths.
Now let’s jump into some really fun tricks.
Multiplication of any 3-digit number
Suppose you want to find product of 307*309, if you try this problem using the conventional method it would take a long time, so lets see the alternative.
Step 1 : Subtract the unit place digit from the number
307–7=300
309–9=300
Step 2: Select either the first or second number and add the unit place digit of the other number
307+9=316
Step 3: Now multiply the product we got in the first two steps
316*300=94800
Step 4: Multiply unit digit of both numbersXx×
7*9=63
Step 5: Add product of step 3&4 =94800+63
Therefore the product of 307*308= 94863.

Multiplication of a number by 5
Multiplication with 5 is easy, but as it turns into a larger number it gets a bit difficult. Let’s solve 67894*5. faster and easier.
Step 1: Divide the number by 2
67894/2= 33947
Step 2: Add 0 in the end if its a whole number
339470
But what if the number is not even? Let’s take a look at another example; 87653*5
Step 1: Divide the number by 2
87653/2=43826.5
Step 2: Ignore the decimal point and add 5
438265
For your practice- 56789*5
Subtract a number from 1000,10000 and so on
While subtracting numbers from 1000,10000 calculations may get tough, to ease it out lets see an alternative method. For example: 10000–5678
Step 1: We would subtract all digits from 9, and the unit digit from 10.
9–5=4
9–6=3
9–7=2
10–8=2
Therefore, 10000–5678=4322
For your practice- 100000–54321
Dividing a number by 5
Division of a number with 5 seems easy until we have a number like 65830, so how to solve this calculation faster? Don’t worry we got you.
Step 1: Multiply the number by 2
65830*2=131660
Step 2: Now move the decimal point to the left by one unit place.
13166.

Squaring a number whose unit digit is 5.
. We often come across squaring problems and find difficulty in calculating it. This trick. would not only help you in getting the square of a number but would also make it quicker.
Question : Find the square of 65.
Step 1: Multiply the unit place with itself
5*5= 25
Step 2: multiply the tens. digit by the sum of tens digit and 1.
6(6+1)=42
Combine the two steps; 4225
